Body Bilingual Books is the publishing imprint of artist-writer Sean Kinson.
In 2020 Sean graduated from the MA Graphic Communication Design at Central Saint Martins, and initiated Body Bilingual Books to feed a practice of writing, printmaking, book arts, and self publishing.
Whilst at CSM Sean’s bookmaking practice developed out of the letterpress workshop and supported by Helen Ingham, using almost all the 10pt Caslon in the building. During his final year of study in early 2020, the covid-19 pandemic made workshop access unavailable, and Sean acquired an Olympia typewriter for bookmaking in quarantine. The happy relationship between man and typewriter continues, but it does now have an Adana letterpress sibling.

Body Bilingual Books is derived from the idea that to transition is to learn a second body language; to attain a body that speaks a learned gender fluently but not natively. All gender is learned, but some of its speakers are multilingual. As Body Bilingual Books grows, it will be a platform for texts concerned with gender non-conformity, racial identity, and other, lesser heard voices.
